Position practice begins Thursday at the NFL Scouting Combine when the defensemen and linebackers take the field at Lucas Oil Stadium.
Thursday’s workouts will feature some scheduled first-round draft picks, including Alabama edge rusher Will Anderson, Texas Tech defensive end Tyree Wilson and Clemson defensive end Myles Murphy.
Georgia defensive tackle Jalen Carter, a predicted top-5 pick, is wanted for his alleged connection to a fatal car accident that killed teammate Devin Willock and team recruiter Chandler LeCroy. Prior to the unveiling of the warrant, it was reported that Carter would not be attending training in the combine’s field.
The Chicago Bears — owners of the No. 1 overall pick and no pressing quarterback position — will likely be keeping a close eye on that prospect, as well as the situation surrounding Carter.

Which notable players will take part in Thursday’s practice sessions?
â–º Will Anderson, Edge Rusher, Alabama: Anderson — nicknamed “The Terminator” — is a two-time SEC Defensive Player of the Year and has been earmarked for picking the 2023 NFL draft for quite some time.
â–º Myles Murphy, Kante, Clemson: Attended the same high school that produced NFL players like Bradley Chubb, Kenyan Drake and Evan Engram.
â–º Nolan Smith, Kante, Georgia: A pectoral muscle tear suffered October 29 against Florida prevented Smith from participating in the Bulldogs’ repeat title run.
â–º Luke Van Ness, Edgerusher, Iowa: “Hercules” has never started a game in Iowa in three seasons, but NFL scouts are eyeing the 6-foot-5, 270-pounder as a possible pro with immediate effect.
â–º Keion White, Edge-Rusher, Georgia Tech: Started his college football career as a tight end at Old Dominion and ended as a fast-rising defenseman.
â–º Tyree Wilson, edge rusher, Texas Tech: Declared for the draft after suffering a season-ending foot injury against Kansas on Nov. 12 and will be restricted during composites training.
