HBO’s The Last of Us hasn’t even finished its first season, but everyone’s already hyped for season 2 – including Pedro Pascal.
One of the most critically acclaimed titles of the 2010s and a cross-generational game, The Last of Us has received the prestigious big-budget television treatment at HBO. The original game follows Joel and Ellie on a life-and-death journey across America ravaged by a brutal virus.
Developed by Neil Druckmann, the game’s creator and Naughty Dog co-president, along with Chernobyl maestro Craig Mazin, it received critical acclaim from the start.
Of course, this also means that fans are very much anticipating an adaptation of the second game, The Last of Us Part 2. And since it’s been confirmed that the show’s second season will cover part 2, everyone’s been waiting with bated breath for any news about it. And now star Pedro Pascal has some.

The Last of Us Season 2 is coming sooner than we think
While the second season of the hit HBO show got the green light almost immediately, it’s easy to assume it would be a long time before we saw any of it.
However, according to Joel’s actor and the internet’s new favorite man, Pedro Pascal, season two could be in production sooner than we’d expect. In fact, filming could actually begin as early as this year.

“In 2023?” he guessed. “Oh, what time of year are we in right now? Are we coming to spring? yes there is a chance Yes.”
With filming set to begin so soon, we can probably expect casting announcements pretty soon as well, which will involve the show’s most controversial character, Abby. It also likely means the scripts are in full swing, which is an impressive turnaround.
However, nothing is set in stone as of this writing. But hopefully this means we can watch the second game on screen without waiting too long. Though personally, considering how sad the story is, we might not be ready for it anytime soon.
