SENATOR FROM PENNSYLVANIA. I AM A HAPPY MAN. THAT’S WHAT US SENATOR BOB CASEY HAD TO SAY TUESDAY DURING A VISIT TO HARRISBURG INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, JUST ONE MONTH AFTER HE HAD SURGERY FOR PROSTATE CANCER ABOUT HALF THAT TIME. I COULD GO BACK TO THE FLOOR OF THE SENATE AND VOTE. I think I voted on day 13 post op which I know is a record but it went quicker than I thought. SO I AM VERY LUCKY. I HAD GOOD ACCESS TO HEALTH CARE, GOOD SURGICAL OUTCOME, NO SPREAD OF CANCER AND THEN A FAIR RECOVERY TIME. Casey said he expects fellow US Senator from Pennsylvania John Fetterman to return to work in the US Capitol soon. FETTERMAN HAD A STROKE LAST YEAR BUT WAS RECENTLY ADMISSIONED TO THE WALTER REED MEDICAL CENTER FOR THE TREATMENT OF DEPRESSION. MY SENSE IS IT WON’T TAKE TOO LONG FOR HE COMES BACK. I DID NOT CALL HIM ON PURPOSE BECAUSE I DON’T BELIEVE I SHOULD CALL ANYONE WHEN YOU ARE IN THAT TYPE OF TREATMENT. BUT I WROTE TO HIM AND OUR STAFF WERE IN CLOSE CONTACT. AND WHILE THE SPECULATION ABOUT WHICH GOP CONDITORS WILL be running for CASEY’S SEAT IN 2024, will Casey himself be running for re-election? Well, we’ll get to that
US Senator Bob Casey speaks on prostate cancer recovery and John Fetterman’s health
News 8 spoke to US Senator Bob Casey about his recovery from prostate cancer and the health of his fellow US Senator from Pennsylvania. “I’m a lucky man,” Casey said. Casey had this to say on Tuesday during a visit to Harrisburg International Airport, a month after prostate cancer surgery. “In about half that time, I was able to get back on the Senate floor and vote. I voted, I believe, on the 13th day after the operation. I don’t know if it’s a record, but it went faster than I thought. I was very lucky. I had good access to health care, a good surgical result, no cancer spread and then a pretty good recovery time,” he said. Casey said he expects his colleague John Fetterman to return to work at the U.S. Capitol soon. Fetterman is currently undergoing treatment of depression in hospital and suffered a stroke last May.”I have a feeling it won’t be long before he gets back if you are in the middle of such treatment but I wrote to him and our staff stood by close contact,” Casey said. And while speculation mounts as to which GOP nominees will run for Casey’s Senate seat in 2024, will Casey run for re-election himself? “Well, we’ll get to that another day,” he said.
