Rebel Wilson says her Pitch Perfect contract prevented her from losing more than 10 pounds, the actor revealed in a recent interview.

During an appearance on Spotify’s Call Her Daddy podcast, Wilson discussed how her contract for the film essentially delayed her weight-loss journey.

“I couldn’t lose a lot of weight because I was signed to do this movie,” Wilson said. “You can’t lose weight, I think it’s no more than 10 pounds, or gain more than 10 pounds. Yeah, you kind of have to stay on weight. It’s in your contract.”

Wilson played Patricia Hobart, a character better known as Fat Amy, in the three Pitch Perfect films – a role that helped her become a star.

As the actor went on to explain, Wilson enjoyed playing the role, although the film poked fun at her character’s height for being “so confident and brave.”

But Wilson had been considering making lifestyle changes for some time because she wanted to increase her chances of possibly having children before she hits 40.

“I went to a fertility doctor and he said, ‘You would have a much better chance of fertility if you were healthier,'” Wilson explained. “It hit me really hard because I was living an amazing bigger life.”

Wilson also wanted to play a wider range of roles and found that she was being typecast.

“I was stereotyped to play this fat funny friend, which is so hard because I love those roles,” Wilson added. “I love playing the roles. i love these characters. But then I wanted to do more things and I felt like I was the bigger girl you just pigeonholed anymore.”

The actor lost nearly 80 pounds due to lifestyle changes that included portion control, a high-protein diet and including nutritious ingredients in meals, according to Women’s Health Magazine.

“I’m just trying to strive for an overall balance, an overall healthy balance,” she told the publication in 2022. “I have this state of being, which isn’t my quote, but I say, ‘Nothing is off limits.’ We’ll be like, ‘Shall we get In-N-Out burgers?’ And I say: ‘Nothing is forbidden.’ I can go there, I may only eat half of what I used to eat. Do you know? And I’ll eat a burger and some fries, and then you’ll be fine.
