At least one person was killed and four others injured in a shooting at a mall in El Paso, Texas.
Police were called after 5 p.m. to reports of a shooting at the food court and Dillard’s department store at Cielo Vista Mall, KTSM reports.
Numerous police officers then arrived at the shopping center.
“Thank you to all law enforcement and first responders who moved quickly into action to protect our fellow Texans,” said Texas Gov. Greg Abbott wrote on twitter.

The recent shootings in El Paso are part of a grim trend.
According to the Gun Violence Archive, there have been at least 71 mass shootings in the United States this year.

Survivors of the 2019 El Paso shooting are now witnessing another outbreak of gun violence.
“My aunt is currently in hiding at Cielo Vista Mall in El Paso, TX while this active shooter scenario still unfolds,” former White House official Olivia Troye wrote on Twitter Wednesday. “She survived the 2019 Wal-Mart El Paso shooting thanks to someone who got her to safety. What does it take to bring about change?!”

Breaking News: Another shooting in El Paso
One person was killed and at least four others injured in a shooting at a mall in El Paso on Wednesday night.
Police in the west Texas city have taken into custody one person in connection with the shooting, but Sgt. Robert Gomez said law enforcement believes another person linked to the shooting is still at large could be. He gave no information about a possible motive.
Cielo Vista Mall is located in West El Paso, just a half-mile from the site of a 2019 racially motivated mass shooting that killed 23 and injured 22 others.
