Chase and DoorDash have been partners for three years now, offering perks like free DashPass membership and DoorDash credits on select cards. Last fall, Chase announced plans to launch a co-branded DoorDash credit card in early 2023, and now the new card is available for applications.
The no-annual-fee DoorDash Rewards Mastercard® is specifically tailored to frequent DoorDash customers, offering its highest earning rates on DoorDash and Caviar orders. New cardholders can earn a $100 bonus cash after spending $500 in the first three months and a free year of DashPass.
In addition, the card comes loaded with discounts for DoorDash customers, including 10% off one convenience, grocery, alcohol, or DashMart order every month through August 31, 2023, and $25 off the first two shipping orders of $100 or more through December 31, 2023. It also offers decent travel and purchase protections for a no-annual-fee credit card, including car rental insurance, trip interruption/cancellation insurance, and extended warranty.
But, as with most co-branded cards, the DoorDash Rewards Mastercard® isn’t for everyone. If you don’t use DoorDash often, plenty of other cash-back credit cards will serve you just as well, if not better.

Credit cards that offer perks and bonus rewards for food or grocery delivery aren’t new; in fact, some of the best credit cards for food delivery earn up to 10% cash back on spending and come with other useful bonus categories.
The new DoorDash Rewards Mastercard® is meant for folks who want to earn generous rewards and discounts on their DoorDash orders. However, it really only makes sense if you’re a heavy DoorDash user, since outside of DoorDash purchases, the card’s earning rates aren’t that unique.
Cardholders earn:
- 4% cash back on DoorDash and Caviar orders
- 3% cash back on dining when purchased directly from a restaurant, online, or in-store
- 2% cash back at grocery stores, online or in-store
- 1% cash back on all other purchases
There’s no minimum redemption amount for using the cash back you earn with the DoorDash Rewards Mastercard®. The easiest option is redeeming your rewards toward DoorDash orders, but you can also get your cash back as a statement credit/deposit or use it for gift cards.
Plus, as part of the card’s welcome bonus offer, new cardholders receive a year of complimentary DashPass membership (worth $96), which comes with $0 delivery fees and reduced services fee on all eligible orders that meet the subtotal minimum as shown in the app and 5% back in DoorDash credits on eligible pickup orders.
Once that free year is up, you won’t get complimentary DashPass unless you spend at least $10,000 on your card in an anniversary year. Otherwise, the membership auto-renews at the annual renewal price (plus applicable taxes) automatically unless you cancel.
As for other benefits, many of the perks offered by the DoorDash Rewards Mastercard® are also DoorDash centered. Again, unless you’re a DoorDash frequent flyer, these benefits aren’t likely that useful:
- $25 off your first two nationwide shipping orders of $100 or more (worth $50 total) through December 31, 2023
- 10% off your first order of $35 or more each month (up to $15 per order) on convenience, grocery, alcohol, and DashMart purchases through August 31, 2023 (worth up to $90)
- Monthly $5 credit toward your first DoorDash order each month as an eligible DashPass member (a World Elite Mastercard benefit) through September 30, 2023
You’ll also get other benefits that come standard with all World Elite Mastercards, including complimentary concierge service, a $5 Lyft credit after taking three rides in one calendar month when you pay with your DoorDash Rewards Mastercard®, and access to Mastercard Priceless® Experiences.
The card also comes with a handful of travel and shopping benefits, including secondary car rental insurance, trip cancellation/interruption insurance, purchase protection, and extended warranty. It’s also a good card to pack on overseas trips, because it doesn’t add foreign transaction fees.
Should you consider the Chase DoorDash Mastercard?
Unless you’re really into DoorDash, you’ll probably want to give the DoorDash Rewards Mastercard® a skip. The other bonus categories on the card aren’t that unusual; you’ll find similar (or better) earning rates on other no-annual-fee cards. For example:
- The Capital One SavorOne Cash Rewards Credit Card earns 10% cash back on Uber and Uber Eats orders (plus a complimentary Uber One membership) through November 14, 2024, 5% cash back on hotels and car rentals booked through Capital One travel, 3% cash back on dining, entertainment, popular streaming services, and at grocery stores (excluding superstores like Walmart and Target), and 1% cash back on all other purchases
- The U.S. Bank Altitude® Go Visa Signature® Card earns 4x points (worth 4% cash back) on dining, takeout, and restaurant delivery, 2 points per dollar at grocery stores, gas stations, EV charging stations, and on grocery delivery and eligible streaming services, and 1 point per dollar on all other eligible purchases
- The Chase Freedom Unlimited® earns 5% cash back (5x points) on travel purchased through Chase Ultimate Rewards®, 3% cash back (3x points) on dining and drugstore purchases, and 1.5% cash back (1.5x points) on everything else
There’s also Chase’s other delivery-service branded card: the Instacart Mastercard®, which was unveiled last summer. It offers 5% cash back on Instacart purchases and on travel booked through the Chase Travel Portal, 2% back on restaurants, gas, and select streaming, and 1% back on everything else.
