Atlas Fallen gameplay trailer reveals explosive, fast-paced combat

Atlas Fallen, our most popular sand-based action RPG, just received its first official gameplay teaser. The footage was about a minute and a half long, but it also included a few story segments.

The fight itself lasted maybe 45 seconds, but each one was pretty exciting.

Too much sand

The trailer begins with the voice of an ominous villain mocking us, the player. Apparently, humans of our kind have already encountered this nameless villain, and that has only led to our downfall. The world of Atlas Fallen has subjected humanity to the whims of the corrupted gods. We are at their oppressive mercy, forced to live in a world carved out of sand.

Things get interesting when we get our hands on a magic glove. With this weapon we can take advantage of magical abilities and amazing attacks. Atlas Fallen offers extremely fast-paced action combat reminiscent of things like Darksiders or even last year’s God of War Ragnarok. However, it’s more Horizon Zero Dawn and Forspoken than a Soulslike like Elden Ring.

An open and sandy world to explore

That’s in no way a negative though, because what the game does, it does well. We’ll have to face a large number of different sand beasts, including huge demons, menacing fliers or even mutant insects.

Both enemies and the actual game world are created on a large scale. Enemies are looming over us, looking quite menacing and dangerous. Their attacks are also larger than life as they can take up the entire screen.

Atlas Fallen Reforged

The player character will not start out with all the amazing abilities right from the start. You must constantly upgrade the magic gauntlet, bringing it back to its peak efficiency. To do this, players must collect Essence and Shards, two resources that can be infused together and enhance an item’s magical properties.

Combat will also be fluid once the player unlocks the gauntlet’s ability to transform into different forms. Atlas Fallen’s Gauntlet can transform into three specific forms, the Duneclever, the Sandwhip, and the Knuckledust.

The Duneclever will be the heaviest of the three. It specializes in dealing massive damage with even greater impact. The attacks are also different depending on the specific form of the Duneclever. It can become an ax that deals long-range blows around you, or even a hammer for bigger and more targeted damage.

Next is the Sandwhip, which has the highest speed compared to the other two weapon forms. You can take advantage of the sword form’s quick and stabbing strikes, or even the whip form’s wide-ranging movements. The Sandwhip also specializes in building momentum in combat, becoming more powerful the more hits you land on your enemies.

Last is the Knuckledust, a fist-like weapon. This weapon excels at dealing a steady stream of damage while building momentum. The more you hit, the more arms you grow, giving you even more damage output.

The world of dunes

As an open-world game, Atlas Fallen will not only be about combat. Of course, there’s tons of world to explore, and you’ll get plenty of skills to make traversing fun.

Run away!

Players can use Essence to Air Dash and move in different directions. This should improve your mobility by 10x, especially since you can easily choose what you crash into. The Raise ability will unearth hidden secrets and lore lost in the sands of time. Thanks to structures that have been overtaken by the dunes, you can even create new paths. Finally, Crush lets players destroy magical seals and grants them access to otherwise inaccessible areas.

Developer Deck13 promises that there will be many optional activities and quests for players to participate in. You’ll learn the history of the land, help the innocent to thrive, and even wreak havoc behind enemy lines. It all depends on how much you invest in exploring.
