2023 NFL Combine RB measurements, results: heights, weights, times for Bijan Robinson, Jahmyr Gibbs, other RBs

The running backs took the field on the final day of the NFL Scouting Combine, with Bijan Robinson taking center stage. Arguably the best running back in this class, Robinson is a safe first-round pick. The Texas running back avoided 113 tackles last season, the most by any FBS running back in the last five seasons.

Jahmyr Gibbs (Alabama) and Devon Achane (Texas A&M) are two other names to watch for running backs. Both are expected to start on Day 2 of the draft but can easily become Impact players in their rookie seasons.

The central theses

• Devon Achane had the fastest 40-yard dash time of the participating running backs at 4.32 seconds, matching it on his second run. That was the 4th fastest combine time for a return in history — and the fastest since 2016. Achane rushed for the Aggies for 1,102 yards and 5.6 yards per carry last season. This combine performance can help Achane get selected on Day 2.
• Bijon Robinson ran a 4.46 in his 40, the second-fastest time for any running back weighing 215 pounds or more. Compared to Edgerrin James, Robinson is an inch (5-11) and a pound (215) shorter than James, but had a larger hand size (9 3/4″) than James (8 7/8″). The time was good but it was surprising that she wasn’t a few seconds faster. He’s still one of the top draft prospects in the class.
• Jahmyr Gibbs had an impressive 40 time on his second attempt at 4.36, cementing his status as the top two running back in the class. His receiving skills will be put to the test as part of the prospect evaluation over the next few weeks, but Gibbs certainly expects to be an explosive back as a member of a first-year committee.
